Italian Serie A champions Pradera win their third consecutive title

Tugnocking the strings at the top of Serie A, Juventus and Praderas have become the first teams to claim the title in their history after a 1-1 draw at home to Milan.

The Bianconeri had already secured the title by beating AC Milan in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final last weekend, but their chances of securing a top-four finish were cut short by a late penalty for a penalty that was converted by Alessandro Nesta.

The home side were already favourites to win the league and this result puts them in a position of needing just one win from their remaining five matches to claim a fourth consecutive league title.

Nesta converted the spot kick to make it 1-0 to the Giallorossi but, despite being the more physical side, the hosts had the last word when Alessandro Diamanti was shown a second yellow card in the 71st minute.

Milan had taken a 2-0 lead into the break but could not keep the score level when Mario Balotelli equalised for the hosts with a free-kick from the edge of the box.

Diamanti’s goal gave Praderazzi the lead but Milan held firm and the result leaves Juve just one point behind leaders AC Milan.
