The cost of living in Australia has been on the rise, with Sydney the country’s most expensive city according to new figures.

With median house prices now well over $600,000 a year, the Capital’s average price of $1,092,919 was the highest in the nation.

In the 10 most expensive cities, it was Melbourne that came in second place, with a median house price of about $1.35 million.

The city’s median income of about 50,000 Australian dollars ($4,000) was also the highest of the cities.

The average home price in the CBD was $1 million.

The Capital’s median house value is now $1m Melbourne is the biggest city to fall in the ranking with median house values falling by about 10 per cent in the past year.

The median house in Sydney dropped by almost 10 per a year in 2016-17.

The Sydney Morning Herald has been tracking the cost of home ownership in Australia for the past 15 years.

In 2017, the average price fell slightly to $1million.

In 2018-19, the median house cost fell by more than 10 per per cent.
